Will AI turn evil 🤖 and destroy us all ??

This isn't the majority expert belief. Rather, the real danger is in AI developing goals that are very different than ours— and being much more powerful than us in the future to achieve those goals beyond our abilities to stop them. This class of problems is called "alignment", meaning the problem of ensuring that the AI's goals stay in line with those of humanity.

Max Tegmark, Steven Hawking and others have explained it in analogy similar to this— if you were in charge of constructing a skyscraper 👷🏻🏗️ and you found out there was an ant hill 🐜 in the way, would you stop a costly construction project 💵 to try to delicately move the nest out of the way ... ? 🤷‍♀️
